This has truly been an experience for me... I keep finding that when I write-up the 1SOMS race commentary that there is always something noteworthy and/or unusual.
This February swim had terrific waves, swell and wind. The March swim was idyllic and flat. The April swim had a forecast swell of 4.5~4.8m (about 1.5 storeys high!). A SouthEaster was also forecast and I hoped this would dampen the swell and keep the rains at bay... it did. No where though was any mention made of a hug... Continue reading ...
Cape Town born and bred..I grew up on Clifton beach..as a nipper the lifesaver at Clifton Surf Lifesaving Club...1SOMS has it roots in the annual Clifton Cold Water Mile.
I enjoy open water swimming and come from a clan of swimmers
